MEETING OPENING:
Karen called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m.
ATTENDENCE:

Old BUSINESS
I. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING:
Motion: To approve the May 27, 2006 minutes as presented.
Action: Approved
II. TREASURERS REPORT
Report and Discussion: Carita presented the budget and highlighted specific items regarding the golf tournament expenses, intern expenses and attendance at the President’s Council Meeting last year. Follow-up is needed on obtaining reimbursement for one of the intern’s stipend, and a golf tournament’s participants owes the association $300.
Motion: To approve the Treasurers Report as presented.
Action: Approved
III. COMMUNICATIONS
Report and Discussion: Deferred for next meeting when Bob is in attendance.
IV. MEMBERSHIP REPORT:
Report and Discussion: Our membership database consists of about 45 individuals. Jim will create another mailing list to include the states listed in our charter (PA, DE, MD, VA, WV and the District of Columbia) and incorporate the past golf tournament attendees (150) for marketing the next golf tournament. A request to use our mailing list came in from the visiting group from last year – they are preparing to tour the SW this year.
NEW BUSINESS
V. GOLF TOURNAMENT:
Discussion and Next Steps: The Reston course was recommended for the next tournament with a tentative date of Friday, June 15 th. Robert will send out the “Save the Date” notice in February, and the flyer in March. A discussion about a continued concerted effort to secure future support of the association’s activities occurred along with the need to highlight the intern program in every communication vehicle disseminated. Several potential corporate sponsors for the tournament and other future activities were identified. Giveaway items including Aloha shirts, UH t-shirts, spam, corn beef, cracked seed and possible sale items will be placed at the registration desk.
VI. CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION (2007-8)
Discussion and Next Steps: The University is currently offering a Winter Institute, but limited notification was received. The group discussed the possibility of creating a chapter event/forum to take place during the spring of 2008. UH President will be in Washington, DC from February 10-12. Karen will hold a dinner and discussion about the centennial celebration. The theme is honoring the past, celebrating the future. Take, Bob Rice, Pat and Donna will work on developing an annual report.

Report, Discussion, and Next Steps:
Fall Program: The Makaha Sons of Niihau will be coming to Wolf Trap in September. The Chapter would attend the event as UHAA event.
IX. Intern Program
Discussion, and Next Steps:
UH will showcase programs such as ours for the centennial. Historically, most of the interns have come out of the Arts and Sciences department. Other departments should be considered including travel management, public health, political science, etc. A creating of a comprehensive Intern Booklet was discussed as an item for the Centennial.
